I have not. However, I do feel that unless money is a significant factor in your reasons for wanting to take this test, you should take the traditional route.

The way I see it, the most compelling reason for taking the Foundation exam is to balance the week and strong areas. If, for example, you fare excellent in Remote Access and Switching, and only poor in Routing, you have a good chance of passing.

So if I wanted to leverage my knowledge from Switching and Routing and not study as hard on BCRAN, would it be worth taking the foundation exam. (cost isnt a factor, work pays for tests)

just a thought, but will stay with traditional path

My understanding is that you have to pass each section (3 sections here) to get an overall pass. That means for example, if you do very bad on routing but get almost perfect score on RA & SW, you still fail this exam. So you may conclude that this exam is just like doing all three individual exam at the same time with almost the same passing score. In addition, time allowed for this exam is not 75min x 3. It is less. If you think you dont need that much time, good for you. Anyway, verify what I just mentioned as I learned this 5 months ago. If you dont work with routers and switches often enough, review before exam is quite lengthy. For those who plan to do ccie whether written or lab exam, they should think about this exam as a "warm-up" because if passing this foundation exam is difficult then better forget about ccie.

.....I would still appreciate some more-concrete information on this exam.
'E-P3': do you have any idea how many questions there are in all (or per section)?...what's the pass mark?...
how long does the whole exam actually take? is there any specific exam-prep literature for this????-- also: the point about the ccie theory "warm up" is a very good argument!

-- and by the way I'm currently undergoing reallife, hands on training with Cisco equipment, so i don't see any reason why I shouldn't get all the exams over with as soon as possible

Hi,
Yes, I did the exam FRS 2.0 and i passed it well by God's grace. it was cool, I may not be to compare it well to the 640-503, 640-504, 640-505 since i did not do that. But I believe it is easier then doing 3 exams .

But take note: you need to be fast as all there are about 155 ques for 165 mins. The exam is seperated into three sections and you will do them in sequece. you are not allowed to go back, you are not stopped until all your time is used up, so if you are not careful, the first 2 sections may use all your time.

You have to pass all three sections no options, even if you get 100% in two and fail the 3rd one.

I can say in summary that the FRS is just a little summary of the three other exams and you save an extra $100. and perhaps time( preparation that i mean since the 3 exams overlap in lot in general.)

that is all for now
