The routing mask is not exchanged during the routing update process, requiring the same routing mask to be used on all networks.
[Question]
Classless routing protocols support discontiguous subnets because they _______.
A. use the longest prefix match when selecting a route
B. do not advertise subnets to different major networks
C. summarize at network boundaries
D. advertise summarized routes

hmmm, my best bet would be ' a ', for the
routing protocol to be able to match the
longest prefix match, - it should have
the subnet mask I guess associated ! | |

| "A" because you can't summarize discontiguous networks and "B" is wrong because you do advertise subnets.

I summarized the summarization.
BSCN book says,
* Route summarization is most effective within a sbunetted environment when the network addresses are in contiguous blocks in powers of two.
For example, 4,16 or 512 addresses can be represented by a single routing entry because summary masks are binary masks - just like subnet masks - so summarization must take place on binary boundaries(powers of two).
1) Classless routing protocols support route summarization based on subnet addresses, including VLSM addressing.
2) Classful routing protocols automatically summarize routes on the class network boundary, and do not support summarization on any other boundaries. |
