Hello. A while ago you posted you were considering using ISDN to replace your existing POTS for a home lab.

I was thinking of doing the same, and using a 2500 series router with BRI interface. Would there be a way around the fact that this router doesn't have an RJ-11 port?

Do you (or anyone else) know of a way around the no RJ-11 issue? TIA!

A 2500 with BRI, that's a 2503 isn't it?

Why would you want an RJ-11? The RJ-45 (or is it RJ-48?) of the BRI connects directly to your NT1.

Or do you plan to continue to use your old analog phone/fax/modem? In that case you need a TA. Some routers like the 803 and 804 has a TA built in for this purpose.

Firechicken -- it depends on what you use for a terminal adapter. I haven't found one I like yet for a price I like. Most of the TA's I'm finding are built into other devices that I don't want. You'd have 1 or more RJ-11's on the TA, which would then be cabled to the S/T interface on the NT1, and that's where the house phones would go.

I am picking up a batch of NT1's (waiting for shippingto happen), so if you're looking for 1 or 2 of them, drop me a line at doctorcisco@yahoo.com, and you'll have that part of the project finished. These are Alpha Telecom NT1's with 1 U and 2 S/T interfaces. 1 S/T is for the router. The other will be (hopefully) for the TA. When I find one. IF I find one ...
