| I have the opportunity to obtain 4 routers.
(1) 2501 8/16 1 ether 2 serial
(1) 2502 8/16 1 token 2 serial
(1) 2504 9/16 1 token 2 serial ISDN
(1) MAU Hub
3000 8/16 w/2 ether
I know I need a catalyst switch also. But my question is, Is that enough for the ccie? If so how do you simulate frame and ISDN. I know that you connect a back to back cable, but is that all you need to simulate. Somebody give me a clue if I'm heading the right direction. Also I got a 7000 that does not have any data when I tried to console in. Am I using the right connector, which is a db25 male but it says modem and my console port on the 7000 is a female. So the terminal connector wouldn't be the correct connection because its a db25 female. Hopefully some ocd can help me with this. | |

| If you're doing this for the CCIE, then I would suggest you obtain a couple more routers and some Catalyst switches.
As far as ISDN is concerned, you will need to find something can simulate this. As I have never needed to simulate ISDN, I'm afraid I cannot point you in the right direction on this one. However, with frame relay, you can simulate that with what you have there. What you will need to do is enable frame switching on one of the routers (preferrably the one with two ethernet interfaces). Then you will have to map the DLCIs from port to port, so that it knows which DLCIs go to which ports. In fact here, follow this URL, and you'll learn:

| Can somebody take a crack at this question.
Also I got a 7000 that does not have any data when I tried to console in. Am I using the right connector, which is a db25 male but it says modem and my console port on the 7000 is a female. So the terminal connector wouldn't be the correct connection because its a db25 female. Hopefully some ocd can help me with this. | |

You have the correct connector; make sure you're using a rollover cable to connect to your PC/terminal/whatever. If you still can't make it work, email me at doctorcisco@yahoo.com; I have an extra route processor for a 7000 you can buy from me if you need it.

| How much are you thinking of selling the route processor. I have 4 rollover cables 5 connectors. Still no data. I believe I need that route processor. |
