I just passed the CCNA yesturday and wanted to get started with reading material. I have read several posting stating the books to read. I want to know which books I can start reading and using to prepare for each exam. I don't want to read four different books to get info on all four exams. Are there books that deal for exam one and so forth. The preparation library has four books but do each one deal with an exam or do you have to know all four to pass each exam? I really hope the CCNP test is harder than the CCNA. I could have taken the exam months ago if I would have known the exam was that easy. Plus all those brain dumps are way overboard from what is in the exam. Thanks for the replies and opinions.

Don't be so cocky...all test will not be that easy. Don't be so quick to say it was easy as opposed to you prepared well for the exam. Modesty will come with time. Congrats.

the ccnp exams are in a different league to the ccna. and yes, you will need to read 4 different books for each exam. for some of the exams i had to read 2-3 books for just the 1 exam. the cisco press books are your best bet, if you know the subject reasonably well you can get away with just reading the exam certification guide.
i hope to take cit early in jan.

Congratulations!!

CCNP is a different league altogether.

Cisco Preparation library is probably the best resource.
The exams are all separate and can be treated as such except the CIT which you are expected to pull all your knowledge from Routing, Switching, Remote Access together.

Good luck and welcome to the forum

The ccnp is more complex than the ccna and it requires greater understanding.
Im a big fan of cisco press , they give you the raw information that cisco crams you with on the actual exams.

Reading 4 books sounds like the way and also doing some practice exams and making Cisco.com your home away from home, I have

I don't really agree with the above statement. The CCNP library publishes ONE book for EACH certification exam, not "4 different books for each exam". 4 Books, 4 tests. 1 for each test. I believe this is what you meant to say. My intention is not to point out error, but to stear the people who have have not yet taken the tests, in the right direction.

It is not incredibly difficult to pass the test by just reading the book, people have been known to do it, but it certainly is more challenging.

If I can make a recommendation, USE QUALITY PRACTICE TESTS. They help you to understand the material and discover where your weaknesses are.

I agree with strikeattack. Use boson test to practice. Much success on your to become a CCNP.

I used cisco press to study for ccna and I used the boson to help me understand what and how to answer a question. The boson will help you prepare for questions on the exams but the cisco press should be used to gain the knowledge.
