Hasan,

Switching is easy as long as you understand the material. I got 940/1000.

Support is a bastard. It's really hard to study for because you have to memorise a whole heap of stuff you KNOW you're never going to use (such as appletalk debug commands etc.) - you will be tested on that stuff.

Cheers

So Sid, now that you are a brand new CCNP, what is next on the agenda? CCIE?

Well done, hopefully within a month or two, I will join you.

Aye,

I got the written test booked for wednesday week at this stage, although nerves may compel me to move it to friday. I'm fairly confident at this stage except for DLSw and Broken Ring. Got any tips about that stuff, or aren't you up to it yet?

Cheers,

Syd,

Cant help with the "written" CCIE, but good luck for it.... I'm only half thru the CCNP, doing the remote at the moment....

I'm privilaged to be working with a guy they call Mr 100%. He got the perfect score in his CCIE, going back a little while now.

I was looking at doing the CCIE after finishing the CCNP, but at this stage it will be early next year...

That's an amazing feat. Hopefully, I'll pass first time; unlike yourself, I don't live within spitting distance of a CCIE testing centre and actually have to drive to Chatswood from Melbourne in order to take the lab. I imagine I would get quite sick of sydney if I had to re sit the lab because I failed it.

Would you mind asking this "Mr 100%" dude if he's got any lab tips? The one thing I haven't been able to work out is exactly what the lab entails... Cisco's website is somewhat bare of information and the forums here aren't exactly elucidating either...

TIA,

Sid

A couple of guy I work with were chatting to our CCIE's and they basically said to get as much hands on as possible. If you cant get to equipment at work, invest in a home lab made up with 2500's or book time with a lab.

As for LAB content, I believe there are some PREP books out there that have some LAB excerises in them, no doubt they are along the lines as to what is expected in the real LAB. They guys did mention to expect to fail the first time thou!!!!

hmm, i'm not planning on it
the plan is to get so much damn experience on the right gear that the chance of failing is neglibile. but then, that's probably an unrealistic hope.

Thanks man,

Congrats man!

I have scheduled my 503 test (routing) for December 10th and I am cracking away now.

I recently bought the AudioWhiz cd for the support test so even though I am unfamiliar with all the specific AppleTalk and IPX debug and configuration utilities I am getting a good grasp of the material.
I listen to the CD's on the way back and forth from work.

I usually like the Exam Cram series of books and find the Troytecs to be quite helpfull in the last week before sitting an exam, I picked up these particular habits from my Buddy Tdawson who just passed his written CCIE exam. The only study aid I think might be used like salt on food are the Cisco press books which tend to go far from the actual scope of the exam and each book tends to repeat alot of stuff from previous texts.
(that's why they have the "do you know this already section?")

Well two thumbs and up! Good luck on the CCIE and let us know how it goes.

Best Regards -Cobby

Good job!

How difficult is the routing exam comapared to the ccna?

I think the individual exams for the CCNP are all very similiar to the CCNA exam.

Each exam is about the same number of questions and goes into more specific detail on that topic.

The CCNA really makes sure you have a good foundation on a broad range of topics while the CCNP's 4 exams test more in depth knowledge of those same subjects.

Earlier CCIE Lab was for two days. Now Cisco has cut short that to one day. Now Cisco is testing more on troubleshooting skills rather than design and implementation. I passed CCIe theory this jan. Now I think all the sylabus has been changed. Any way have a look at source route bridging. I got a lot of question on this.
