| I am giving exam from Karen web book . I had also heard that in Bcmsn exam you don't get questions from HSRP & from last chapter which is security is it correct pals ? | |

| Those two areas are free game for the test and believe that there are a couple of questions that I remeber from my exam that delt with these topics.
Security is probably only going to ask general questions. You should know HSRP and how it is used and configured as it is a very important part of keeping a Campus Network working in the event of a failure. I can think of quite a few areas that questions can be asked on this (not being specific for a reason, want to keep my CCNP Cert).
If I were to ask you a question like, how many routers can participate in a single HSRP group would you know that you can have more then 2? but only one hot, one standby router at a time?
Do know this stuff - Boson will be worth the money for this test since you are probably like me, very little exposure to these big switches.

| hello mr depamo,
first of all i will am thx to you that u r helping me out . Actually i had done this bcmsn course almost 1 year back so now i am revising and giving exam . I have just 1 problem with changing IP multicast addres to Mac address e.g :-
IP address = 224.10.8.5
Binary address = 1110 0000 0000 1010 0000 1000 0000 0101
Mac address = 01-00-5e-0A-08-05 (this is ans)
I know how to convert an IP address in binary form but from binary form i forgot how to convert to MAC address.Have to make sets or what ? I hope so u understood my question

| Know all the commands for VLAN, MLS and VTP. I passed it on 10/25. I got about 15 questions on commands. About 6-8 questions on multicasting. I think switching is relataively easy compared to Routing and BCRAN. | |

| Yeah, I remeber that question and you do need to do it for the exam.
224.10.8.5
1110 0000 0000 1010 0000 1000 0000 0101
maps to CGMP
01-00-5e-0A-08-05
This MAC address is formed by 01-00-5e, followed by the last 23 bits of the GDA translated in hex which is the answer above.
This is a good procedure to remeber and also remeber this is not a one-to-one mapping, but a one-to-many mapping:
224.10.10.10 corresponds to MAC 01-00-5e-0a-0a-0a
226.10.10.10 corresponds to MAC 01-00-5e-0a-0a-0a, as well
Good luck!! | |
