| Does anyone know how Cisco update the CCNP Certification. Is it individual test by test or they count the last test that you took to be CCNP. Maybe some person take a year to be CCNP and if they count the first test that you take your CCNP will expire very soon.
Please advise? or Information about retiring CCNP Cert.

| btieu,
i think I got the jist of your question...
the count down towards recertification begins the day you finish your last ccnp exam.
btw, i hope you post numerous questions on your journey. Answering your badly worded post are a GREAT prep for Cisco Certs. Keep up the good work!!!
Peace

| There are some cool timing stuff that will occur when you are taking your exam. Your CCNA will update to your CCNP when you pass just like the CCDA will up to your CCDP. The actual clock starts on the certification when you finish the last one. As for how long the individual tests are good for as you are taking them, I don't think they expire but you will have to update you are a revision behind.
Say I took half 400 series CCNP tests, I will have to finish with 400 series and have a 400 series CCNP. If you start down the 500 series and they up it to 600 or something as you are taking it, sorry, you will have to retake all the exams if you want to get the 600 series. You can still finish the older series for a while so long as it is still available.
As for updating, the series changes happen very rarely (unlike others, MICROSOFT!!!!) they instead put new and more challenging questions into the specific tests and alter their appearence to keep you guessing. Overall it is still the same test, just a few questions are added, revised, and new types of questions are added.

| Sean34.
Thanks for your reply. May I ask, How long would it take to expire/recertified CCNP Certificate. My CCNA expired in 3 years.
Thanks | |

| It's the same for CCNP (3 years) but I believe that the CCIE is 2 years. | |

| The CCNP is good for 3 years and the CCIE is good for 2. I also heard that Cisco was raising the exam prices by $25 US on Nov 1st. | |

| cprice2k,
Huh, thats interesting Cisco's raising the price of exams. (At least to me) Is this going to be like the cost of stamps in the US? every year they increment the cost...well, i can see how some ppl could get mad over this but Im not going to complain cuz there still cheaper than those damn A+ fees.
anyway, I guess we should all schedule are next exams by NOV1.
Peace and best of luck

| Just received word from Cisco on exam price changes.
Effective November 1, 2001, the price for all exams, which begin with #640-XXX and #9E0-XXX, will be US$125 in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The price for the Foundation exam, #640-509 will
be US$250.
These changes are only in the USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico. At this time, no other regions will be affected. The price for other exams, including the CCIE qualifying exams and CCIE recertification exams, will also not be affected at this time. |
