Author CIT?? Hard or Soft??

I have been going over the CIT material now for the past week. I have been having a hard time concentrating on it since the material is so entry-level compared to the other certification information coverage.

Question is, is it really as simple as the material in the book or am I setting myself up for a failure by not taking it seriously enough?? I mean there are parts that explain basic concepts of things like Frame-Relay and ISDN that were repeats of segments of other certifications. I took a Boson Exam and passed it with a 100% the first try and I can feel myself getting very lazy about studying.

I do have experience with trouble shooting routers but none in Token Ring, FDDI, IPX or Apple Talk.

Spooky.

depamo,

i thought the cit was a pretty easy exam. I only studied for one week. If you can post a hun-ski on Boson, Im going to recommend scheduling and taking the test. From your numerous post its apparent you know your stuff. So ya take it already!!!

peace and best of luck

Hard if you dont remember that it is a "concept" type test. Easy if you study all of the areas well. Use a pool of about 500 questions that that hit the right points and you will be fine. www.ccxxproductions.com has excellent resources for good prices to prepare (I dont work for them either). Good luck!

You were all right. Understanding the information and some of the experience made this an exam that I didn't have to fear. Guess that since it was the last one that I just wanted to make sure, would hate to waste $100.00 and a good weather weekend if I was going to fail.

Actually blew it into the dirt. Was much easier then expected. Some really good questions in it though that do probe your understanding of troubleshooting beyond the content of the book.

Thanks again -

CONGRATULATIONS Depalmo!

I passed the CIT yesterday (Second try). Took it too lightly the first time and tried to apply real world knowledge of networks to figure the test. Big mistake but it did help me conceptualize on the scenario questions. On to CISSP and CCDA. I have a security background so it will be interesting to see what the CISSP is like. Again congrats. I took it last in CCNP and it was really a review in many ways of the technology of the
bcmsn bscn bcran tests with a focus on troubleshooting methodologies.
If you did well on those you will do well on it.
