| Anyone out there passed the CIT exam? I have taken all the CCNP exams bar this one and I am a little confused as to the potential exam content. The study guide seems to concentrate on Show and Debug commands. Is that all there is to the exam? | |

| I took the CIT yesterday and it was very challenging to say the least. Needed a 692 and received a 644. I took this one lightly and paid the price. Need to study ALL aspects in the CCNP Cisco Press study guide by Ranjbar including VPNS, Logging, Show and debug commands. All you need is in the book and taking Boson tests won't hurt. I'm getting back on the horse and taking it next Saturday and then will be CCNP certified. Rigo. | |

| I took the test two weeks ago and I found it to be the easiest of the four. Everybody is going to give you a different opinion but that was my experience. Here is my advice from a previous post. quote: Even though I used the CIT book, I would say that the Support Cert Guide covers everything quite nicely and whatever it covers would be about right. Plus I would throw in a little basic ATM; I don't know anyone who has had ATM on their exam except for me so odds are you won't get it but you never know. Know your Catalyst 5000 basics and Vlans from your switching test. There is a diagram in both of the Cisco Press books that tells you which show and debug commands go where when troubleshooting ISDN, make sure you memorize it as well as the steps in the problem solving model; seeing as Cisco says right in the book that you need to memorize those diagrams, I don't think I am violating the NDA by telling you that. The configuration and protocol analyzer output questions were really basic so I wouldn't sweat them too much; I was a little concerned about them after studying them in the CIT book but the examples on the test were easy. My test had 75 questions and of course the test's difficulty could change depending on the pool of questions you draw, but that was my experience from my test.

| I have the test in one week, this Sunday. Last one that I have, book is almost a review of all the stuff that I already know and worded in very simple terms like you haven't taken any of the other exams yet. Got me a little on the defensive since so many are having issues with this exam.
Oh well, wish me luck so I can finally get some piece of paper for all this work!!

| Good luck with the exam...
This is my last exam also (should be taking it in November). I think the main problem with the exam is the amount of show and debug commands you need to memorise. Gonna give myself plenty of revision time and also buy a self test software practise exam and a boson practise exam!!!

| Just passed the exam an hour ago! I took the class about 6 months ago and since just read through the examcram and used the boson #1 for review. Most of the commands that I had were related to either switching or ISDN. Of course there were quite a few debug and show commands, but nothing that I didn't expect.
This was a tough exam because the wording was a little funky (this is a cisco exam). Oh yeah, I had a couple of drag and drops. Nothing major, but it threw me off for a minute because the items did not drop into place the first time out.
Well, I hope this helps you prepare. Now on to my last exam, Routing.

| That is cool. Taking the path less traveled. I have seen a couple take the routing exam last, a little on the weird side to take that one in the end. Think that if I still had that one to go that I would probably stall for a month, big hill to climb.
Anyhow, great job, hopefully I will follow suit and pass this sucker also. That is strange that all the questions are centered on switching and ISDN. Hardest of the group to trouble-shoot but the book goes into depth on Frame-Relay, IPX, Appletalk, IP and that stuff.
Thanks for the info, will help me to focus a little better. |
