Hello Everyone,

Passed Switching yesterday with a score of 796. Not the greatest score but I'm not complaining. I had heard about this exam zeroing in on one topic but I found it pretty well distrbuted. I used the Cisco Press book and the Exam Cram book mostly. If you know the exam cram material this one is a peice of cake. Now onto BCRAN. I have heard the Exam Cram for BCRAN isn't very good. I have the BCRAN book from Cisco Press by Catherine Paquet. Anyone know if this is good enough or is there another source you guys could reccomend.

Thanks in advance !

Hi,

I completed my CCNP on Monday and my last exam was BCRAN. I studied from the Cisco Press too... and i found it more than adequate..... in fact I studied for all my exams only from the Cisco Press books...

For the BCRAN exam, read the Appendix which contains the BCRAN commands .... thats very important !!!

go through the ISDN chapters well.. i had a lot of my questions on ISDN....

All the best !!

Thanks Niteen !

Can you clarify one thing for me ? Did you use the BCRAN course book or the BCRAN Exam cert. guide from Cisco Press. I've read alot of bad reviews about the course guide written by Catherine Paquet. Does anyone else have any experience with these 2 books ?

Thanks
Soray

Hi,

I finished reading the BCRAN Course book a couple of weeks ago, I'm 2/3 of the way through the re-read and notes writing stage.

I haven't seen the exam book so I can't compare the two, but compared with the routing and switching course books I found the BCRAN book quite easy to read.

I also seem to understand most of it, I struggled with some of the switching stuff, though I've been a telephone engineer for 31 years and most of the principles involved in BCRAN seem to be pretty close to 'home territory' for me.

Peter

Hi Richard,

I studied for all my exams from the course books. Before I started my exams, I too was confused as to which to read the course or the cert guides.... but I consulted some of my friends who are CCNP's and they told me to go for the course guides as they had completed their exams using the same.

I havent gone through the cert guides so I wouldnt comment on them but I found the course book just right... I scored 898 in BCRAN !!! I guess thats a good score

All the best !!
