Hi Experts,

How peer-to-peer can be configured to share the Internet?

Please give me clues.

Any idea would be appreciated.

You can use IP Forwarding with Microsoft if you have a computer with 2 nic's, a router with NAT overloaded (need 2 ports, inside and outside) unix proxy, MS Proxy Server, thrid party NAT services, Linksys routers, and the list goes on and on.....

For a home network Linux is the best. You get a router, firewall, NAT, and all sorts of servers.

I'm pretty certain it'll be a bit easier than this if it's just a home lab (I know he never mentioned what it was like). Windows (since 98) should come with all the necessary software.

I've not done this before, but the following link may help, I think you can also do it on win 98 but it isn't mentioned.

If this doesn't help keep searching at www.microsoft.com I'm sure the answer will be there somwhere.

What kind of connection to the Internet are you using? Knowing this will help in determining what kind of setup would be best.

If you have a cable or DSL connection for Internet access, I would suggest getting a Linksys or Netgear router. This will act as your hub and give both machines access to the Net regardless of the other machines status. I believe both of them support NAT and DHCP.

If you have one machine multi-homed (dual nics) then the second machine will only access the Internet when the first one is up.

Save yourself the drama of doing IP forwarding and setting up a gateway.

That's my 2 cents worth.
