Have you tried your local cisco office. Some of the offices have labs that will allow you access to "certification" racks if you are a ccnp or ccie candidate.

That's news to me. I've got two questions on that.

1. What would they define as a CCNP candidate?

2. What do they charge?

I got started on the ccnp track a few days ago and am trying to figure out what routers to get given my limited budget (could save up around $2000 in the next few months). Working on the switching exam for now so it's not much of an issue yet but I'll move onto the routing exam after that.

From what I have been told you have to have your CCNA and working towards one of the NP exams. I was able to get into the local office at no charge.

Wow, that's what I call a fast reply. Thanks for the info Reamer. Looks like there's an office in Orlando so I'll try giving them a call.

If you are trying to "build" your own lab I would suggest that you look at http://www.tcpmag.com. I have found several articles that talk about building a home lab cheap.

In fact, here is an old article to start with http://tcpmag.com/column.asp?id=GEN&cid=6

Thanks again for the info Reamer. I was thinking about getting two 1603 routers which would probably be enough for all the CC*P exams. I've been reading those articles and the Cisco website, and it looks like the 2503 would be worth the extra expense since it would be a lot more usefull in preparing for "the lab" later on.
