Author BSCN - Jan 29

2001-01-19, 12:03 am

i'm slated to take the BSCN exam Jan-29th and would appreciate any insight or additional direction. combined with aprx. 18 months sporadic experience, i've spent more than a few minutes deep in Cisco's web site, i have been reading the BSCN text (two chapters to go) and plan to re-read it before the exam, have started using Boson (so far #1 seems closest to the BSCN text's focus), and have been a frequent visitor to this forum.

i've seen many posts suggesting a thorough understanding of EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP. i accept that, but am curious if the questions are protocol theory and detail oriented, command oriented, or an equal mix of both.

aside from that clarification, any other suggestion for focus is appreciated.

thanx - omniscient

p.s. i'm also re-reading Halabi's OSPF Design Guide and BGP Case Studies documents.

no need to study halabi and case studies for BSCN.Make sure you understand BGP,OSPF and EIGRP very well. Redistribution is very very important and Acess List as well.Couple questions for IP addressing.

I am booked in for BSCN on the same day.
This is the first of my CCNP exams & it has been a long time coming because of work commitments etc. Hopefully things will gather momentum now that I am back in the swing of things.

Good luck for the 29th!

For those of you taking the BSCN, I would like to suggest:
http://www.seydlitz.homestead.com/Cisco.html http://www.seydlitz.homestead.com/RoutingExam.html

After I took the exam, I sat down and wrote out what I considered to be most prevalent. Also, there are three series of BSCN practice Qs.

Already been there BB. Congrats on a very good site.

Keep those quizzes coming!

thanx to all for the suggestions and support. if i have any specific questions between now and the 29th i'll definitely post them here.

Dillon, good luck on your exam. if you need any study material or have any questions, feel free to email me.

BB, thanx for the questions. i took all three practice exams and did well (80% or better on the first try). am i correct in understanding that the questions closely resemble the type and content you saw on your BSCN?

Omni -

Yes, the practice Qs on the site are as close as I could come to the actual exam without violating the NDA.

Thanks to those of you visiting my site on a regular basis . . . Hopefully the forum will start to pick up a little more . . . <=)

thanx again BB for the questions. good quality questions. don't suppose ya have ?s for the BCMSN? i'm taking it Jan-31 (and i moved my BSCN up to Jan-25). it'll be alright. i've been co-preparing for it (along with BSCN) and will have most of a week to devote to it after my BSCN exam.

thanx again for putting together another great Cisco-centric site.
