This is my first input.

I am preparing for my CCNP 2.0 Routing exam and was wondering what router simulator to get. I have seen the Krang demo, but want to be sure before investing in any one.

Please advise.

Thanks

The only bad thing about the router sims is that you are sometimes limited as to what you can do. There is a web site r1r2.com that give you full access to a real router, and there is virtually no limitation. I would recommend using this (and it's free).

If you are already a CCNA. Krang has limited functionality for now. Routersim 2.0 is your best bet. But it'll cost ya.

I have the Rouetsim 2.0,it has been an excellent resource for the CCNA,but I am finding out that it is somewhat limited in its abilities. There are number of things that it will not allow you to do.It is good for the scenarios presented in the labs that come with the simulator, but you have to stay within those boundries. I am going to keep using the Routersim, but I am saving my coins to buy the real stuff.

RouterSim is a good product; they are coming out with a CCNP version with in the next 2-3 months.
They are releasing another update by next week to fix the stupid telnet and '^' symbol problems; that will bring it to version 2.1.
Don't waste money on real routers, etc. Its a great idea at first, but then you have this stuff that you have to get rid of or find some use for afterwards and its too much $$ for just certifying (with study materials and all). There are plenty of free and low-cost router sims and real router labs on the internet that you can use. Try these: www.networkinstitute.com/vrl.asp and www.routersimulator.com and r1r2.com. Not entirely like having the real thing, but you ain't making the big bucks yet, either.
Hope it helps.

Hi!

Artlee, how can I get the Routersim 2.0 from you? I'd like to try it out for myself.

Thanks

O'Niyi - I can not sell my routersim,as it was a present from my wife. The $ would not justify the earache I would have if I did sell it.Thanks anyway.Artlee

Thanks Artlee, thought the product was free. Where can I get to buy it and how much does it cost?

You'll find the router sim at Sybex or Amazon
Also you can go to www.routergod.com for free access to real routers. They let you do almost everything

Thanks vlund

Went to the routergod site immediately, but had difficulty navigating. There were so many - too many links, I didn't know which to go to. Please help.

Nothing like that real thing. I'd only use a sim if I could get it for free.

If they are coming out with a CCNP version I think we might I might just have to check it out. I have used Routersim1.25 and 2.0 They only work at CCNA level anyone who is real serious about Cisco should have the real thing.

Hey Vlund,

I would greatly appreciate if you would send me the Boson Test for the BCRAN EXAM, I hopefully am planning on taking it next week. Thanks in advance, any other advice for the BCRAN will be much appreciated.
