Author ospf->totally stuby->default route->lsa type 3?

if i'm not wrong, in a stub, default route generated by the abr is lsa type 3.

but lsas type 3 are not allowed in "stub no-summary"...

have you read something saying that such route is a SPECIAL lsa type 3?
unless, my assumptions are wrong...

thanks for your comments

The OSPF specifications define three types of areas: normal (type-5 capable) area, stub area and not-so-stubby-area. The "totally stubby" area is a Cisco extension, defined as a stub area in which only the default route is flooded. You won't find a "area totally-stubby" in the command reference; you'll find only "area stub" and "area nssa". The only way to make a stub area "totally stubby" is to include the "no-summary" option. Therefore:

  • "area x stub" configures a stub area in which summaries, including a summary for 0.0.0.0, are flooded
  • "area x stub no-summary" configures a totally stubby area, in which only the summary for 0.0.0.0 is flooded.

Hope this answers your question.

Cheers!
