Author eigrp->routing table and feasible successor

2000-12-31, 12:47 pm

i'm wondering whether or not a feasible successor is inserted into the routing table?

with variance of 1, i would say it's not inserted.
but it would mean that:
- with a variance of 1,
- when the successor becomes not accessible,

->the ROUTING TABLE would not DISPLAY the route, although, the route would be ACCESSIBLE?

but it doesn't make sense because the ROUTING TABLE is supposed to maintain an accurate list of all the accessible routes...

unless, if as soon as the router has found a FEASIBLE SUCCESSOR within its TOPOLOGY TABLE, it DOES insert this new route within the ROUTING TABLE before to allow the forwarding...

it would mean that transferts between TOPOLOGY TABLE and ROUTING TABLE does't occur ONLY after RECOMPUTATION...

thanks for your comments
frans
