Everyone,

I went in and took my building Scalable Cisco Networks test today. I passed it with great difficulty. The test had 61 questions and gave me 70 minutes to take it. I don't want to go in to specific questions which would devalue the certification, but I will say that the test hammered on BGP and OSPF. If you are going to go and take this test, I recommend you know these protocols inside and out. I thought I knew BGP like the back of my hand when I went in! I was wrong! Luckily I knew the other technologies enough to get through the test. On a positive note, I passed this on my first try.

I currently have my CCNA and MCSE and this was harder than any of these tests.

What I used to pass this test was BSCN by McGraw hill ( the first book published on the subject. Even though there has been a lot of bad press on this book, I found that it gave me a good foundation) ACRC from Sybex(I barely skimmed through this book) and practice tests from cert21.com which were pretty decent and reasonably priced. I opted against Boson due to the fact that they try and price gouge you! I think everyone should boycott this company.

That's all I have. Good luck with this one!

Interesting comments. Im sitting BSCN about the 20 Jan (but its to sunny at the moment to study so I might put it off ). I spoke to a collegue of mine just before Christmas. He had just sat the BSCN exam the day before. He was of the opinion that the actual structure of the exam made it far easier than the CCNA exam. The questions were put in a straight forward manner so you knew what they were asking as opposed to the somewhat abstract ways the CCNA asked them. BGP and OSPF are the biggies although he also said that there were a number of VLSM and summerisation questions.
Good luck with the next exam
