I've been reading Karen Webb's BCMSN and just noticed that cisco press has a new book for CCNP switching exam. http://www.ciscopress.com/book.cfm?book=174

Has anyone used it yet?? Wonder if its better, worse, or the same??

Cheers

Maybe others will purchase the newer book, but I can assure you that the book you have is a very good one for the exam, especially if you also invest in the Cisco LAN Switching book as a study guide and future reference.

Yankee,

Thanks. I am hoping to limit my study resources until I can get a job using Cisco equipment. I just passed my CCNA about 2 weeks ago and will start actively looking for work after the holidays. In the meantime, I've started my pursuit of the CCNP's switching exam. I have Webb's BCMSN and the Exam Cram's Switching guide (its was cheap and rated well by others for a down and dirty synopsis). Is this enough study material?? I'd be happy to purchase more books when I can use them on the job , but until then, my book budget needs to remain civil.

Cheers

The new book thast you refer to is the Exam Certification Guide for Switching 2.0. This is cool. The CCNA and CCDA and previous CCNP Exam Certificaiton Guides were very good, in my opinion. These titles are more exam-specific than the basic Cisco texts. On the other hand, they may not present the material in as much depth as the primary references.

Practically speaking, I have always liked these books. They get right to the meat of the issues as they relate to the tests and are generally well written.

This one came out too late but I look forward to the Routing 2.0 Exam Cert. Guide.
