Author actual BRI speeds, what is Cisco looing for?

2000-11-27, 2:11 am

This is for BCRAN
As most of you know BRI ISDN uses 2 64k B chanels and 1 16k D chanel = 144 k.
Is this what they are looking for in answer to the question of how much bandwidth does
BRI ISDN use?
OR are they looking for 192 K because that is how much bandwidth is actually taken up?
Thanks in advance for your help?

No, you will want to consider the sum of all channels when you answer these types of questions. At least if you want to answer these things the "Cisco way".

Oh, by the way, the total bitrate of BRI ISDN is 192 kbps.

Yes the 48 bit is used for bri channel syncronizaton if I am not mistaken and the answer would be 192kbps

Please don't think there is only one answer for the "Cisco way". Pay attention to how the question is worded and that will determine which answer is correct. It's obvious to me that you know the possible answers so just pay attention to the question and you'll get it right.

Just a note: total bandwidth on a BRI is 144k, but if the question asks for total speed, then it will be 192K.
