Well guys it's my turn to go for the switching exam and see how hard it is. I need last pointers from people who have already taken the exam or people who recently taken the exam. I am taking it this afternoon and I hope I pass this. I have been studying alot, I read the Sybex,Cisco press, Exam cram books and boson. I also got practice questions from the CCPREP website which are very good but I don't really know if those questions are even close to real ones. I appreciate if someone can help me out before I sit down for the Switching exam. Thank you

How about good luck and hope you pass.

by the time u read this post, u must have returned home with a pass. congrats from santa!!! u worked so hard by reading so many different books. i feel so lazy.

Well mr ccna hate to disappoint you but I hate to say that I have failed this damn test. my score was 693 of 699 of passing. I don't know but I think that the big ugly black cloud is following me ever since I started working on Cisco. For all those who would like to know about the test:
VTP
VTP
CGMP
VLAN
MLS
and I don't know if I am the only person who received 5 type in questions. Is cisco fair with me or what???? 6 repeated questions. Nothing compared with the CCNA test. I believe that If I had studied atleast one more week I would of passed. I started working on the test for almost 2 weeks and got this score. Thank you all for the last minute points and those who did not even care I thank all. Very soon I will go back and take Routing with Switching back to back and come back and help everybody......This war is not over until I say so.... Cisco you are mine....

sorry to hear your bad news. pls dont get me wrong, the only reason i respond to your post is because i feel u are a hardworking person. u read so many different books to prepare for this exam. i dont believe in braindump. i only believe in hard work.

missed it by only a few points is perhaps the most unpleasant exam experience. to myself only, with 2 weeks study time and getting this score, i be quite happy. sure u get it next time. cheers from santa!!!

Tulcingo, don't wait to long to retake it. You are so close. All you need to do is focus where you were weak and and brush up on everything else. If you wait things will leak out and you'll have to start all over. Review one more week and take it again. Don't get discouraged. Good Luck

First of all thanks for the encouragement and think you got me wrong on the last minute comments because you are probably thinking that I was looking for the "braindumps" but no I just wanted to know how hard were the type in questions but as you can see I got 5. I thank ALWAYS for encouriging me and others who are taking this exam to go and get it ASAP. But for me I will start studying for the Routing test and go for both back to back. What do you think? should I get switching over with or take 2 exams at the same time? I am probably going for the exam on Monday since I can't schedule for the test for the rest of the week. I am going to eat this one alive when I get there. I started studying for this one again once I got back from test and I will not even bother with the CCPREP and BOSON questions because they are not even close to the real one and I take them like a waste of time and money for this test. but, they are good no matter what (its better having these junk than nothing). I would recommend reading the Tomm lammle first and then go with Cisco Press and then to Exam Cram. Let me tell you that the exam cram is the best of all these books I read. Well let me go back and study and I would go take it again on Monday...............

If it were me taking the tests. I would focus on Switching until I passed. As for taking two tests back to back in the same day, I could never do that. It would be to stressful for me especially if I failed the first one. Stay focused and you will succeed.

You'll do fine, just keep at it.

I have posted before about reading materials for this exam, but I'll say it again because I think it's important. The BCMSN book from Cisco Press is all you need to pass if read and reread, but if you want to really do well, supplement your reading with the Cisco LAN Switching book also from CIsco Press. This is a great book and a real keeper as a reference.

guys I just wanted to know if somebody knows what is the default setting of cgmp on a switch? is it enabled only when PIM is detected? or is it just disabled and you need to enable it manually? I think it should be disabled only if multicast is not detected what do you think?? Thanks I am still reading on this and can't find it...
