Author Finished CCNP

2000-11-16, 1:11 am

Finally got around to completing this thing although it is a version 1.0 cert because I took the ACRC and CLSC exams. I also took the BCMSN exam so I only need the BSCN for the 2.0 cert.

Realizing that I can't comment on the BSCN exam, I'll say that the Support exam was the hardest for me of the 2.0s. I was lucky to have some ISDN experience as backup circuits, so that really helped on the Remote Access and Support exams.

I always recommend the Cisco Press books, but I didn't get that book for the Support exam before I took it. I have it now and will review it, but I used the Exam Cram and felt comfortable enough to go take the test before I got the Cisco book.

I still haven't found any sample exams that can ask a question the way Cisco does, but the questions in the Exam Cram book will let you know if you have the concepts down. The same with the Boson exams. But because you are measuring concepts, you better be scoring in the 80-90% range on the sample tests the first time or two you take them to be sure you are ready.

Good luck to y'all,

Yankee

No CCIE lab for a long time in my future. I need to be a lot better at this stuff before that ever gets attempted. Maybe the written exam in a while, but for now perhaps the CID and then a CCNP specialty.

If I ever take the Lab, I plan on passing it the first time, so that is a long ways off.

congrates...

Yankee what is the best Simulator you've find for your BCMSN exam ???

Please do suggest us 'se when all are wondering around many Simulators

Se ya !

CCNP2be,
For the most part I have stayed out of the simulator discussions because my views differ from most. I do not believe you benefit that much from simulators so I never used any. While I do have access to some production Cat5s I didn't even use them for the Switching exam.

My BCMSN exam concentrated on the concepts expressed in every chapter of the Cisco Press book and not so much on the "hands on". I was able to learn more then I needed to know from two Cisco Press books: BCMSN and Cisco's LAN Switching.

I will admit I was fortunate to do a fair amount of ISDN work prior to my Remote Access and Support exams. This experience did benefit me greatly on both of those.

If you have the ability to read and understand the material, not just memorize it, you can do fine on these exams.

Good luck to you,

Yankee

Connnnnngrats Yankee.
Luck to ya on the CCIE sit-down test.I had a buddy take the CCIE lab and 6 out of twelve failed because they didn't save the config to a TFTP Cisco did nothing more but walk in and unplug them all.

Congrats Yankee!!!

You deserve it. Any tips on CIT exam? What book do you advice on, any type-in? etc..

IT CAN DONE

2000-11-21, 12:27 am

As I said in the original post I used the Exam Cram book while waiting for my Cisco Press book and felt comfortable enough with just that reading to take the exam.

Questions came on all subjects and I mean all! For this reason I really suggest this exam be the final one you take for your CCNP.

As for question format, I had all the types from pick 3, to type in and drag/drop.

Good luck to all,

Yankee
