Can anybody help me out with this question?

Which of the following statements accurately describe the results of applying an outgoing access list to an interface?

A)No action is taken by the MLS-SE for outgoing access-lists
B)The MLS-RP sends teh access list information in an MLSP message to the MLS-SE
C)The administrator can reinitiate MLS for that interface by entering the MLS RP IP ACL command
D)The MLS-SE retains the MLS cache entries until they age out; all subsequent packets in the flow through that interface are routed through the MLS-RP

I think the answer is D but I think is B am i right or wrong? can somebody help me on this?

I see why you're confused. I think the A answer must be correct because the MLS-RP is the only thing that deals with the access-list. If it permits the packet to exit the interface, the packet will enable the MLS flow and the router will never see that flow again. The B answer isn't right because the MLS-SE wouldn't know what an access list is. The only thing that MLSP might carry is a flush command to delete the cached entries so the table wouldn't have to wait for the entries to age out that the access-list will prevent. Answer C is meant to confuse you because it is similar to the "mls rp ip input-acl" command that gives you the ability to apply an incoming access-list. Answer D sounds correct until it says the subsequent packets will be routed through the MLS-RP. If it did that there would be no Multilayer Switching. As I said in Answer A if the packet is permitted by the access-list the first time it won't get routed again it will be switched for the rest of that flow.

I'd be interested in others comments on this one!

Thanx Yankee "let's go Yankee....let's go Yankee....."

Maybe this statement would help. MLS is a concept of route once, switch many.

Answer B should be correct.
From Cisco Bcmsn page 235:
"If an extended access list is applied to the router interface, the MLS-RP tells the MLS-SE to purge all cache entries in order to enforce the access list."
In fact, whenever you apply an access list, the MLS-RP will inform MLS-SE by means of MLSP.
I have seen this question before in BOSON, but I remember the answer is more complete with the words "purge the MLS-SE cache".

Hope this helps.

Yatao,

Careful about reading too much into an answer. B does not say that it is sent there to purge the cache or I would have picked that too. It says it is passing the access list info and that's why I tossed out that answer.

helan2,

That is a totally inappropriate question for you to ask. Should someone do that they would lose their Cisco CCO account and risk being decertified. I can't believe you would even make such a post.

Can't you get a cco account once you have a cert? I doesn't give you IOS download privs, but you should at be able to log in as yourself. Trying to use someone else's ID is no good. Bad bad!
