Author Reverse Telnet

A question that was brought up in my BCRAN study group.

"anyone who can tell me how to do a reverse telnet from the AUX port of
one router to the AUX port of another (directly connected) router?"

Would this differ from connecting an aux port to a con port?

We had this discussion recently because someone wanted to be able to remotely access a serial port on a Sun box. For demonstration purposes we sent a console cable from the aux port of router1 to the console port of router2.
I've done this before when configuring modems and knew that we needed to telnet to the tcp port 2000+aux port line number. You can get the line number from a show line and in this case it was 129, so the port was 2129.
But we had a lot of trouble getting this to work. Enough so that I searched through cco to make sure that we were using the correct range for telnet and such (I bookmarked the page this time: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/11...r16.htm#REVERSE ).
I finally disconnected the far end of the cable and could rtelnet to the aux port. I connected the cable back to the console port and it worked fine. Tried it again with the cable connected and it wouldn't work. I cleared the line a few times and was able to get connected.
I don't know why I would need to clear the line. I have a feeling that the console port was basically locking the aux port by making it think it was in use so I had to clear the line and then telnet to it real fast before it had a chance to be locked again. Does anyone know if there is a way around this or a more proper way to do it?
