"10/1/2003 -- ProsoftTraining.com (Nasdaq: POSO), known for its Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) certification program, reported a profit for its fourth quarter 2003 -- the first profitable quarter for the company in two years."

Found it on another Cert site which I apparently am not allowed to link to from this forum. Lame.

Net revenue is down but profit is up. Maybe they can put some of that revenue into updating their tests.

that's like eeer... bad news...

what it says (without actually study their financial report) is this...

we cut staff, support, exam development, promotion and other related issue... to the point where we have only 1 employee working from his car... we administered 1 exam... ooooo profit!

revenue down, profit up... ya...

edit: did some additional reading.

" while continuing to increase gross margin and reduce operating costs. Accordingly, our cash profitability increased considerably during the quarter, " laugh

"In addition, administrative expenses will be further reduced by several efficiency improvements, including the planned relocation of our product development activities from Santa Ana to Phoenix "

"Sales, marketing and general and administrative expenses totaled $1.35 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2003, compared to $2.79 million for the previous year's fourth quarter, a reduction of 52 percent, "

"Content development expenses were $0.21 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2003, compared to $0.58 million for the previous year's fourth quarter, a reduction of 64 percent"

read, research and accept nothing base on face value, even my assertion that promotion and other things important to us are being cut... even tho the number seem to suggest that is the case here... anyone can spin any number to present a favorable front.

Well, you may be right although I hope not.

If CIW doesn't get it all together, I wish someone else would step forward with a vendor neutral webmaster/designer cert.

This is my first experience with certs and I think CIW has the best potential for this area (vendor neutral webmaster), but it definitely needs work. For example, Site Designer covers Paint Shop Pro but not Photoshop. Uhhhh, okay. Dreamweaver 3? Design for 640x480? Honestly, I'm a bit unsure how to answer some of the questions - do I respond with a real world solution, or do I respond with what I think they're looking for?

It could be so much more.
