| I am new to Examnotes but enjoying every bit of it.
I intend to take my Foundation exams by November (have just ordered a Sybex book for it from London). After that i want to pursue the Administrator track.
I want your advice. I am downloading Linux right now and will start from scratch teaching myself. How long would you advise me to take before writing the Server Admin exams?
Also, i will write my Foundation exams in Johannesburg. Is there anyone there who would have second hand CIW Admin books that i can pruchase?
Peace. | |

| To be honest, most people won't have any problems with the Foundations test with a little bit of studying. I took a comparable test (i-Net+) and passed with flying colors. However, now that I think about it, I could have taken that test and done fine after two weeks, instead of three weeks. I just "felt" like I needed an extra week. You will not need to know anything specific about Linux other than what can be run on them such as Apache, SAMBA.
As for how long it takes to study before writing Server Admin, it depends how fast a learner you are. If you are just starting out learning Linux, you have a while to go. Give yourself at least a couple of months of familiarizing yourself with a couple of different distros and shell commands. G'luck! | |

| Admin books are hard to find. You can try Ebay though.
Downloading Linux is a pretty good idea. You will have to know all the line commands, like "grep", for the test anyway. |
