| Hi Everyone,
Alot of people in this forum in the past have questioned the worth of the CIW certification and will it help you get a job.
Well I am happy to say that last week I interviewed for an evening position as a CIW instructor. Things are looking very good that I may become the leading instructor there also.
When I took these tests over 1 1/2 years ago, I did not know if they would help me or not. But what I believed in then and still do today, is there is a market for the CIW program, especially in web design and the4 security aspect.
Now some people will say that did that help me in my job? Absolutely! I developed websites for several elected folks, and the knowledge from the ecommerce course has helped me greatly in dealing with the project management of our ecommerce contracts.
So don't be discouraged if you have gone through this program. I think it will prove a great benefit in the long term.

| That is some excellent news timmyq! Congratulations! I hope to hear more good news on the CIW side of things. It seems to me that ProSoft just hasn't marketed their programs enough and/or schmooze with the big companies to get more industry backing behind their certifications.
As it stands, most recruiters have no idea what a CIW cert is whereas they they will recognize CompTIA certs at least. However, CIW offers a great range of programs for those looking at specific job roles.
I sure wish however I'd hear more people say I got a job in network security because of my CIW Security Specialist cert or a systems administrator position because I had MCIW Administrator cert. As it is, all the success stories I have heard involving CIW certs have all been instructional jobs.

| Thanks to both of you - One of the things I hope will add something is the fact that I do have a CISSP - I hope that this will add some credence to the CIW Security Analyst, which I also believe should be marketed differently. Hopefully I can help make a difference. |
