| The end of this month (April 2002) I am trying to complete the trio of exams to become a Certified Internet Webmaster.
While iNet+ had a huge learning curve for me, it the E-Commerce exam that I am most afraid of failing.
I wanted to ask if anyone had come across any of the Microsoft Site Server Commerce Edition questions in the actual exam?
Any news of updated questions would also be greatly appreciated. | |

| There are no questions about the actual software. All the questions are about the theories of e-commerce. Expect lots of scenario questions. | |

| Yeah, I found the Ecommerce exam to be the most difficult - not because it really was difficult in real terms, but because ecommerce as an IT field doesn't have a well-defined knowledge base, the term means different things within the industry, and this made the test intrinsically more idiosycratic than the others...
Although it's true that the test is scenario based in the sense that you won't be asked a lot of specific questions about particular development or hostsing tools, the scenarios, in my opinion, were far more forced than on the Site Design or Foundations exams. A very large portion of the scenario questions seemed to be in the form: "Your boss has a question about what x is. How do you explain x to her?" They might as well ask "What is x?" - this is *not* a scenario based question... ;-P
There were also a lot of questions about what is the "easiest" way to do something - questions which I found intrinsically subjective. I must have guessed well on the questions, but I always count the number of questions I'm uncertain of before I press the button to have the test scored, and there were far more questions on this exam where I wasn't sure that my answer was what they looking for, than on the other exams... What was frustrating about this is that the uncertainty wasn't an issue of knowledge of the material - it was an issue of not being sure what they were after with specific questions... :-(
That said, I did get through it, using solely their official materials - and for this test, I think using *their* materials specifically can be quite important (again because of the issue that this is a field that lacks a well-defined knowledge base whose core concepts would be intrinsically obvious to anyone who works in the area). In a funny way, you may be at an advantage on this test if you're new to the field - you won't have anyone else's concepts running around in your head, interfering with the official materials... ;-) | |

| Question. Is there anything on the E-Commerce exam that I should really focus on like Laws? I've had many people tell me the exam is mostly scenerio type questions and that there are no straight forward questions like the other exams. Please advise. Thanks!! | |

Security was somewhat over-represented on my exam - not on a difficult level, but knowing what to call different security strategies is important. I also had a lot of (fairly subjective imo) questions on which payment techniques, development strategies, etc. were "easiest", "hardest", etc. | |

Strangely, I found this exam to be the easiest in the sense that you need not memorize a lot of material (maybe except for the online marketing and copyright sections). Most of the questions can be answered if you think through them and use some common semse. | |

| Update.
My colleagues and I passed the exam today.
Out of a group of 8 we all scored between 88 and 93 percent, which leads me to believe, due to the time we had invested in studying, that there are certain questions that can't be answered correctly. | |

| Haven't seen hide nor hair of those questions anywhere, but my answers would be.....
