Passing CIW Foundations

| I have taken the CIW Foundations test four times now and have failed each time. The fourth time I was so frustrated I asked the person in the testing center what the deal was...why I could pass all practice tests and answer all the questions in Prosoft to the T and still not pass. I was told that the information that Prosoft uses is not the same information in the actual CIW test and that the info is actually wrong. I was told that they knew of a professor that had the correct information and I could retake all my courses through him...apparently he was battling with Prosoft to change their info.
After spending thousands of dollars on training I am pretty mad. Does anyone have any advice in passing this thing??? | |

| Woah , thats a total bummer! Well I never actally took the CIW Foundations, I took the i-net+ and got the credit for the Foundations. Dont know much about the CIW exam, but I didn't find the i-net to be to difficult. I used the Exam Cram which I wouldn't recommend,it didn't cover it enough in depth. The Sybex book is a really good one! I took some practice tests from that book and it seemed to really follow the test. Ya gotta pay the $95 fee to get CIW, but if your having trouble finding the right study material for the CIW the i-net may be the way to go! Theres tons of info out there on it!!

p.s. When you do get this one under your belt, the Certification Bibles are good ones for the Site Design, and E-commerce. They may have one for the Foundations to, never checked!!

| I just took the CIW Foundations last Friday and got an 85%. I found many questions to be like the ones on cert21 but there were other questions that weren't. To prepare for the test, I read the CIW Foundations Exam Cram book and took cert21 practice exams until I was getting mid 90's everytime. I also have 12 years of experience in the IT field, which I know helped me on questions that were not in the book or on Cert21.
There is a CIW foundations Certification Bible from Hungry Minds. Just do a search on CIW on Amazon.com. I don't know how good it is, but I just bought the CIW Site Designer Cert. Bible and eCommerce Cert. Bible and they seem pretty good. I also have the Flash 5 Bible which I also like.

It's actually not out yet but it will be soon. Too bad they don't have one for Server Administrator. Not that I need it, but I have to teach it soon and I remember that being a tough test.
What area of Foundations did you have the most trouble with? What I find diabolical about the test is that you not only have to have 75% on the whole exam but you have to make at least that percentage on each section. Some sections only have 12 questions so if you miss more than three you are hosed.
