I am currently using the CIW foundation self study kit in preperation for the exam, now I read that you can get credit for the i-Net+ certification and get the CIW foundations that way. Wouldn't it be better to do i-Net+ and get two cert's for almost the price of one?
I'm thinking that I should buy an extra study book on i-Net+ and just sit that exam and get the credit...? Then once I have the foundations out of the way, continue with my chosen CIW stream...it seems that I only need to sit the CIW foundations exam if I intend to be a CIW Instructor...leave that for later...

Not putting you off or anything but you may want to reconsider this option. Why? From Feb 02 to transfer your i-Net+ Exam to CIW Associate will now cost you US $95 and with the increase in CompTIA exam prices this will hit your pocket more than you think!!

Again, not putting you off, but if you only intend to follow CIW there would be no point to spending the extra money!!

Just my opinion.

Thanks wbafrank,

It seems I should just stick to CIW, as long as i-Net+ and CIW Foundations are regarded similarly in industry...

Cheers,

wbafrank is probably right - but if you intend to become a CIW CI you must pass the foundations test. I did the CIW A track with the I+ and had to go back and take the foundations test.
