Is there a way to study for Security Professional, Server Administrator and Interworking Professional without taking classes? Are there any online sites, any books that are especially good?
Has anyone pass the exams without taking the classes?

For those who prefer the more flexible self-learning route, or who are on a budget and looking for third-party books, here is what's available or soon to be available:

(1) CIW Foundations Exam Cram: Exam: 1D0-410
by Carol Miller, US$24.49

(2) CIW E-Commerce Designer Certification Bible by Chris Minnick, Margaret Minnick (Hardcover), US$41.99

(3) CIW Site Designer Certification Bible
by Natanya Pitts (Paperback - November 2001), US$41.99

(4) CIW Security Professional Certification Bible by Mandy Andress, Phillip Cox (Hardcover - July 2001), US$41.99.

(5) CIW Master Designer All-In-One Exam Guide with CDROM by John Johnson, Kent Beckert (CDROM), US$48.99.

All can be found at Amazon.com.

I want to mention that I passed Security Professional today with an 85%. I just didn't want to start a new thread about it.

I thought the Prosoft books were helpful for all of the Administrator classes. It wasn't enough though. I still had to supplement with something else. I thought Cert 21 was helpful for Server Administrator. Probably wouldn't have passed the test without it. For Internetworking Professional, you could go with either Cert 21 or the Troy Tec package.

I think the Prosoft books are mandatory for Security, but again it's not enough. I took a class and had the books and still failed the first time. I also used Cert 21 and it wasn't very good for that exam. I used Cheet Sheets this time and the questions were on the money (very tricky) but some of the answers were wrong. That's why you need the books so you can be absolutely sure about them.

This is an incredibly challaenging exam. I had alot of security experience (I am currently studying for CISSP) and I had the same problems. One thing - I also bought the Keen product and have improved the answer key. Congrats and good luck!!

Did you send your key back to them? I e-mailed them and they think their key is da bomb diggity. I'll try to work on their key myself today or later tonight.

Yes I did. I even emailed them to check and see if they posted it. I got an 85% overall but I smoked 2 out of 3. I haven't seen physically if they are using it though. Let me know.
