Why are you getting CIW certified?
|
|
|
| Hello everyone
I was reading around on some other forums and many were talking about how 'invaluable' a CIW certification is in the industry. The most obvious reason being that many companies don't know about the CIW certification let alone it's meaning and purpose.
Do you think that the lack of knowledge about this cert is a marketing problem? I see a lot of computer learning places marketing to get your $$$$ for the course but how many actually help in the job search.
The reason I decided to trek through the CIW certs is to validate my skills for a potential employer. My current job is as a web image processor so I don't get an opportunity to show my skills. But, if employers aren't familiar with the cert...???
any opinions ??

| I agree that it probably is a marketing problem on prosoft's part. But the more people that attain the cert, the more employers that will become aware of it. (i guess)
A foundations class in Australia that lasts 5 days costs approx. $2600. You can buy they cert21 exam and find notes on the Internet and finish the whole thing in 5 days for about $300...... If someone brings out material for all of the exams but at a resonable price, then I think it would become more popular!
I think the uniqueness or value of a cert should come through its content rather than its costly courses and the fact that no one wants to waste the money to attend them. I suppose that supports the argument that theres two ways to skin a cat Cisco's way, and Prosoft's way..... :P | |

| First off, I'm an instructor in an IT school in Miami. Being a teacher is really a great source of income and provides a lot of free time to work elsewhere (not to mention the benefits of free books). Well, not only is my job paying for my certs, but I get a 10% raise also. Not to mention that ACICS (accredidation) "requires" instructors to either have a bachelor's or be certified. CIW is wonderful!
Is that a good enough reason? |
