CIW-Foundations and related certs?
|

| I'm a newbe here and I'm sure glad I found this place.
Since I'm going after the CIW-foundations test soon, I would like to know if there were other certs I should go for at the same time that would be related to CIW-Designer?
|
| it depends what field you want to get into.......
applications development?
security?
web design?
etc etc etc
if you're into development, have you looked at MCSD?

| My interest is Database integration with web. The MCSD is the closest relating cert from Microsoft. Some people say it's a good idea to have work history in the field before going after MCSD, which I don't have. Also no college degree. I have lots of study under my belt: SQL 7.0, ASP, JavaScript, VBScript,Dreamweaver-AltraDev, PhotoShop,Flash, and all the Mr.softy basics. Which MCSD test would come closest to CIW-foundations? For me that means intro to networking. Thanks for the help. | |

| None of M$'s tests come close to CIW's Foundations class. M$ is more advanced, and deals with M$ products.
CIW's Developer track is tough though.
If you love DB integration, why don't you consider Oracle also? Some consider it in the same league as Cisco.
|
| if you have had experience with asp, vbscript, etc... you should be fine taking the VB track for MCSD.
Theres a lot more work in the MSCD than in the CIW designer track. If you are quite new to VB and COM then you'll need to read a few books per exam. Also the other core exam #-100 is in a totally different league and is apparently very scenario based.
But it is a challenge, which is good |
