| I have decided to follow the CIW path to enterprise developer level. I did an I-NET+ cert to get my CIW associate and now I am studying to do the Javascript exam and the Perl exam. I only have experience in working with HTML and I am wondering how difficult these exams will be and how much I will need to learn to pass them. Any input would be much apprecited.
Thanks | |

| Hi!
I am a CIWCI and have been teaching CIW for about 2 years now. I tok the Perl and JavaScript exams over a year ago BUT take it from me you need to get yourself REAL experiance with PERL. Just studying out of a book is not good enough. They will throw sample code at you and ask if there is an error and where....sometimes even how to fix it and the only way to do this is with real experiance. If you can memorize every single if and or but in the languages good luck to you and you are a better man than I. But remember the App Dev exam builds upon the knowledge from Perl so it doesn't go away. Good luck and keep us posted. The best way to get real knowledge is to implement, tear apart, and recreate already existing Perl modules. You can download them from any CPAN site like http://www.activeperl.com/CPAN.
If you need more details about exactly "what" is fair game on the exam send me an email and I would be more than happy to help...real world is the best though!

| But also check out my Exam Notes, they are on this site under the CIW category. I originally designed these to help my students pass the Exams. JavaScript is a pushover, but as Mandy Stated you really need some good hands on with Perl.
Cheers

| I have the CIW Web Languages for sale. You can have it for $400 (new). The books mirror the exam and give you the background you need to move up through the track. | |
|
| $400????
You can buy them brand new for $5 less :-\
If you can't sell them, I'll buy the set for $100 | |

| $100 are you crazy? No wonder your down under. Instructor led CIW classes here in the states start at a $1000 and the instructor just reads from the book. Yes you can purchase them direct from CIW but they are different from the classroom kit I want to sell for $300 or best offer. It sure beats what you would pay for the instructor led course. I WILL sell this at my price! | |

Um, your price is a little on the high side, before paying for your merchandise I would like to know what is the added value of having the classroom kit as opposed to kit CIW will sell me. Basically I want you to sell me here and tell me why the advantages purchasing from you.
|
| maybe next time.........
but this time you WILL sell them to me for $100!!!
haha....... Ebay has web languages going for about $100... and it doesn't really matter if they are new or used, as long as they are the newer version, which yours dont seem to be.
|
| So what is different between the 2?
Have you put your stuff on ebay? You will probably find a lot more people interested there. I would buy them if I had the $$$, and they weren't more than cost retail. |
