Hi all,

From what I have learned and since I have already failed the foundation exam once I would just like to point out that no-one can really prepare you for the questions......yes in the sense of how to prepare ie; study guides etc but at the end of the day the exam is different for everyone. Some people will get asked more questions about the OSI/RM model then other people etc etc. The only way to really be prepared is to know everything in the books.
(which I must say is quite hard as everybody would know the size of the things!)

The exam format is still divided into three sections:

(a) Internet Fundamentals (24 questions)
(b) HTML Fundamentals (Web Page Authoring Fundamentals) (12 questions)
(c) Networking Fundamentals (24 questions)

But all you need is to get an overall pass. They just changed it. No need to score an overall of 75% and not less than 70% for any one section.

Most people would consider the i-NET+ exam (www.comptia.org) as an alternative route as there are a number of affordable (US$15-30) third-party study guides that are more than sufficient to ace the exam and serve as an equivalent to the Foundations exam.

Is the i-NET exam more a networking exam?
If so I would prefer to stick to the ciw foundations as since its split into 3 parts (of which 2 I do as a job anyway) I think I am safer staying on this track!.

Thanks for your advice anyway. :-)

i-NET+ is more Internet than Networking. The name can be quite misleading.

For those that are considering the Foundations course, here is some food for thought. The exam objectives for both are extremely similar http://www.comptia.org/certificatio...tive_draft.pdf.

i-NET+ has five sections, and 20% is devoted to Networking. The other 80% is spread out between Basics, Development, Security and Business Concepts.

If you get the i-NET+, you can get the CIWA by posting your exam results. Two for the price of one .

i-NET+ ExamCram book by Emmett A. Dulaney & Martin Weiss is all one needs. US$21.00 on Amazon.

Hey thanks for that,

It all sounds to confusing!......... I will stick to my track and my work have already payed the bill so it won't pay to change now.

Thanks.
