| Hi, Kiwi!
I know EXACTLY how you feel. I took the Foundations exam last Friday and passed.
I studied my notes carefully and took the cert21.com practice exams ($20/30-day access) over and over until I would get 95%<. Once you start getting over that mark then you should be well prepared. Actually the cert21 practice exams looked almost exactly alike, except for some minor differences.
If you do that then you should pass with flying colors. I wish you much luck & just relax.
|
| I think I'm gonna do like you...
did you hear that the ecommerce will be updated in Augest ? is it real? and so the site designer, so the course material now will be changed I mean...?
So we have to take the exam b4 Augest?
well I decided to take the foundation next Thursday(not tomorrow )...
Thankx for your reply and I hope you pass the site designer and ecommerce too

| Hey, Kiwi.
Well, I was really nervous taking this exam so I studied like you wouldn't believe. I don't know if you wanna hear how I did it, but I'll tell you just in case.
1. Ordered the self-study guides.
2. Went through the books, highlighting key points, and typing them up. Typing them up may seem tedious, but it really helped sink the info into my brain.
*Anything you can't get a grasp on put the page # next to the notes for quick reference.
3. Went over the notes thoroughly.
4. Took cert21.com practice exams maybe after each chapter I studied. At first, you may get a really bad score, but the more you take it the better it gets. So, take it as often as possible.
Then, 5 days before your exam:
Day 1 - Study your weakest book first(Internet, Web Page Authoring, or Networking Fundamentals). This will give you ample time to look up anything you don't understand.
Day 2 - Study the next book. Look over previous day's notes.
Day 3 - Study the last book. Look over previous day's notes.
Day 4 - Look over ALL your notes.
Day 5 (Exam Day) - Maybe look over your notes. I found that looking them over on this day made me jumble up my information and I'd get totally stressed out. So, if you get to this point put your notes away. Get to the testing ctr maybe 30 minutes beforehand. This way you can get there in time and you can sit in the car & catch a breather or two before your exam time. RELAX & DON'T look over your notes.
As for the exams. The only thing I've read about it is that it's just being updated to version 4 if I'm not mistaken. I don't believe much will change. But don't take my word for it.
Good Luck
P.S. Sorry this post is so long.

| Hi Kiwi,
No need to be scared!
I took the Foundations exam today (and passed with 92%). I got 70 questions including 10 beta questions.
The cert21 exams are extremely helpfull!! I recognized at least 80% of my exam-questions, mostly worded a little bit different. So it's good to study those cert21 questions. But don't just remember the answers, know why these answers are correct and read the questions carefully.
Go for it! It's not hard.
Good Luck! | |

| Thankx for your help and advice...wndsrfgrl and snadraj...this has been helpful so much....
I hope we all pass...! | |

| I don't think it is really tough, but you gotta be careful with the section on HTML fundamentals. You will need to get at least 75& overall and at least 70% for each section and that means you can't get more than 4 wrong out of 12. | |
|
| i think it has changed ..........
unless it changed back to that format, but when i took the test it had just changed to only 75% pass, you didn't need a certain score in each section.
Do the cert21 exam and you should get over 90%........

| Hi there Kiwi.............
I am also very nervous as I sat my foundation exam and failed the first time. I did the course and the tutor did his best to point out the main points for the exam but I now realise that the exam can cover absolutely ANYTHING that is mentioned in the 3 foundation books. Another thing I did wrong was focus too much on the networking as this was my weakest area..........you really have to study the exam question at the time and go back over your answers as they sometimes try to throw in trick questions. I have been told to know your protocols.........and the OSI/RM layers etc.
Anyway good luck to you and let me know how you get on. I have booked to sit mine next Friday but If I don't feel confident by then I am going to re-schedule it.
|
| Hi shareen,
I wanted to take it *last Saturday !*
but this network part is my nightmare too...
I understand it but memorizing is the issue here!
well Idecided not to give it all of my time,
and just have a quick revision once again on it...
I wish you best of luck next friday...
bye | |
|
| hey ppl
If you're taking foundations and are worried about the networking part, you can do the cert21 OSI model prep exam. I think its still free and you get 40 questions.
I did that exam about 10 times so i knew the layers and their corresponding services/hardware/protocols.
Just a thought |
