| Is the CIW worth taking if you have the knowledge or would it just be a waste of time in a employer prespective ? | |

| You get the cert for your knowledge, not to impress your employer. Just my opinion. | |
|
| I agree. Only testees seem to have heard of it. | |
|
| what track do u think you'd be following?
I think you would learn quite a lot from the Enterprise Dev track.
Funnily enough, i dont think i've seen any employer in aust. ask for anything but MCSE or CCNP. They mainly ask about your knowledge with different languages or OS's or whatever.
I have never in my life seen any employer (in australia) ask for any CompTIA certs, MCSD, IBM, etc
I was checking out the IBM certs today and they seem pretty cool, though probably not as recognized as MS certs. They have e-comm and XML certs that i may look into.
Check em out if ur interested )))) | |

| also, i think certs serve as a motivational tool. Rather than just studying from a book and not heading in any direction, certs provide a path for you to take and provide the motivation to complete the entire path.
Of course you need experience and whatever, but there's no way I would know about cryptography, B2B commerce, etc etc if I hadn't takin this cert.
But, I am glad I did because a lot of it is very interesting.
I think a lot of people out there would learn very little if they were purely studying for knowledge. All you can say to yourself is now i know blah, rather then get excited about passing an exam and completing a course.
Its like closure, to actually pass. |
