what exactly is the field where you develop cryptosystems and cyphers, etc etc

Like, who actually develops these technologies and works with this type of security? Would the security exam cover any of this?

When i'd see positions for 'Security Specialists' it would think they meant NT security or network security. Is that correct? or would those positions also include en/decryption, building your own keys, etc etc?

Most jobs that ask for security experts are seeking people with knowledge protecting the network and systems in general.

Secutiry experts would need to be able to install and administer the keys if the setup so requires it.

Where crytography is concern, those are usually not advertised positions, and really fall in the domain of mathematicians.
