Well, I've finished reading all the self-study material for the Foundations portion and have taken a lot of notes.

I've also answered the practice exam questions from the self-study kit & the took the practice exams from cert21.com (passing with 93%< after numerous attempts).

I'm currently going over all my notes and am thinking about taking the exam on Friday.

How do ya'll know when you're ready to take the exam?

When you can answer 90% of the questions you come across and start finding errors in your study material. Good luck.

im not sure if i just got an easy pool of questions, but if ur getting 93%+ on cert21 then you should be fine. I kept doing them until i was getting over 95% and was pretty confident.

You'll be amazed at how simple the exam is......... i finished the whole thing in approx 14 mins.

You will see the first few words of questions and know the answer straight away.

e.g. Q - You have a 5Mb email.......
A - FTP

you know what i mean? thats how it was for me anyway.

good luck, dont be too nervous, you'll do fine!!

Hey, Thanks for the vote of confidence!

I finally went ahead and registered to take the exam on Friday. If I pass...Great! If I don't pass, then I just have to study some more and pass the 2nd time around. Of course, the exams aren't cheap.

I'll be crossing my fingers and staying

I remember how I felt when I took Foundation, my first cert exam, back in November. I got so nervous, but after I saw several questions, I felt much better and confidence came back. In fact, exam questions seemed much easier than the ones on practice exams. Good luck!

Just to make sure you are ready before you go into the test . Sit Down with a piece of paper, or word, flip to the beginning of every chapter, and write down and answer every single chapter objective for every single chapter. The test is based on these objectives.
Your going to master this test

I passed the CIW Foundations exam with a 90%. I almost crapped in my pants.

Thanks for all your support & input.

For those of you who are getting ready for the exam, I thought the cert21.com practice exams helped TREMENDOUSLY.

I purchased the study guides, read through them thoroughly, and highlighted key points.
Then, I went through the books again and typed out, in Word, all the highlighted parts.
I reviewed those notes over and over and I'm one of those "read into the questions too much" test taker.
In between looking over my notes, I went through the practice exams numerous times. If I miss a question or see an answer I am not familiar w/ then I do more in-depth studying.

Hope this helps. Now on to Site Designer!

congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!

see, i knew u would pass. hehe
Its surprising how close cert21 is to the actual exam.

ill pass on some advise about the site designer though, its a lot different to the foundations. Depending on your experience, you can narrow most answers down to the correct one even if u dont know it. But if you haven't had much web dev experience, make sure u use the courseware.

I didn't find the cert21 exams very useful for the site designer exam. There were a few questions that were in the same format, but not that many.

Maybe I just got a really tricky pool of questions. ) congrats again!!!

Hey thanks, ddd!

Some of those questions that were in there were kind of confusing. I'm thinking they might have been the beta questions. Who knows.

As for site designer. Hmmm..I'm pretty familiar w/ all the software they've talked about, but I"m not familiar w/ Homesite. Maybe I can find something about it.

How have you been studying for this? I'm thinking about getting the study guides again since it was well worth it the first time.

How are you doing on your progress?

For the Site designer I used the cert21 exams and just checked out the forums and used brain dumps and stuff. I took the exam about 6 days after foundations and, to tell you the truth, I fluked a 90% on it. If you have the study guide for it, you should be fine. The cert21 exams did help and were probably worth the price, but they were no where near as close to the actual exam as the foundations one was.

I am actually about to do the e-comm exam, i should have done it ages ago but that guy took off with my $600. So I'm getting alternate notes to study from. I just want to get it over with

At the same time i'm trying to learn XML, VB objects, ASP, SQL and advanced Flash. It seems like there aren't enough hours in the day Does anyone out there feel the same?

Question: what exactly is cool:gen? I know its something to do with distributed web apps, but thats about all i know... Theres so many jobs in Aust that ask for cool:gen.

Hi, Irshad.
I'm not sure about getting study guides from Qatar. I ordered my guides online at http://www.computerprep.com. They weren't cheap, but they helped very much.

Maybe one of the moderators on this site can help you w/ the issue. Sorry I couldn't help you more.

Congrats on Foundations! I remember taking mine and was mighty pleased to get it done.

The Site Designer exam I found much more straighforward (scored a 92%). I personally had a week with a tutor in a classroom and Prosoft texts which were very useful too.

For Homesite, their download trial version is 60 days and therefore was long enough to get to know the program for the exam. Now that they have been taken over by Macromedia, I don't know if that trial is still available. Having said all that, I had NO questions on the software products AT ALL. Also, all of my colleagues on the course either had none or 1 or 2 questions and they were simple ones...

Hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!!
