| I passed the CIW security exam today. This was the second try. This exam was alot harder than the first one that I took but I passed this one so I guess that it does not matter. Who knows how to stop POP3, FTP, etc. in Linux? Is this a security question? Good luck to all you who have to take this one. | |
|
| Go into the hosts.deny file and stick in a line like:
ftpd:ALL
This will deny the FTP service to all hosts.

| That was not an option. One answer was to recompile the kernel, one used the #, one used the $ with the inetd.conf command and I can't remember the last answer. I don't know Linux except for the books. There were a few "off the wall" questions on this exam, but I passed so, YEAH!!!!! | |
|
| Oh, well, that's the method I would use. Recompiling the kernal might work, but then noonw would be able to use the services . . . not good if you just wanted to restrict certain hosts. A '#' is a comment. Anyway, you passed, so congratulations! | |

| Hi Moonfang,
I just failed the CIW Security Test (by a whisker). Where did you get your study info from? I have lots of experience, but it didn't seem to help me. Drop me a line please.
