I'm want to book my foundations exam soon and then go on to the site designer track and would like to get to the professional designer level before November as I am moving to Canada.

Is it easy to do just using self study materials? i've been working commercialy for a year now and can hand code HTML/Jscript/ASP etc. well. I've also taken the cert21 practice exams and passed them without any problems. I'd just like to know if anyone else has self studied and passed without any trouble.

My impression is that if you know your stuff already, then the foundations exam at least seems pretty simple. How difficult is the next exam?

Thanks for any replies

My only option around here is New Horizons and I am not in the mood to sit in a class with an instructor reading from ProSoft books. Seems like a waste of time and money. I am doing the practice exams online and will be reading the ProSoft books (thru a friend who already took the exam). I have been working for several years putting together web sites. I feel like I might benefit from the Site Designer class - not sure at this point! But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it :->

For the foundations, if you have been working in the industry and have been passing the cert21's then go for it! I did it using the cert21 exams and a few brain dumps i found on the net. Remeber you can get 15 q's wrong and still pass, and if you think about it, thats a lot of mistakes for a exam on general web stuff.

For site designer, I would maybe suggest buying the courseware from ebay. I just used the cert21 exams and a few brain dumps and got a pretty big surprise when I did the real exam. There are only a minority of q's that seem as simple as the q's on cert21. There is a bit on Object-Oriented languages, different approaches to building sites, one of the easier questions i remember:

If you want to indent a paragraph 17 pixels, which would you use:
a)<img src="trans.gif" width=17>
b)<p>
c)<b>
d)<img src="trans.gif" height=2 width=17>

I choose d) because if you dont specify the height then it will display it in the same ratio as the original image. So if it was a 1x1 gif then it will end up 17x17 and u dont want a big invisable box, just an indent. I may be wrong though..........

After doing the Foundations you will probably be really confident with site designer, but realise it wont be as simple (i may have just got an unlucky pool of q's) btw i passed with a 90% but i didn't expect to hehe

Do you have some advice about what should be included in the course material for the Site Designer? I have been checking Ebay, but I'm a little confused. What should the package include and what would be a reasonable amount to pay?
