| cboyles, and others:
could you pliz comment on this hardware config:
(assuming daily hit 10,000, using Commerce Server + ASP for the front end)
PIII 2x 866Mhz, 512MB RAM, 18Gig RAID.
I would think this is sufficient? but i may be wrong...
thanks.. | |

| If you are just now buying the box... Then I would definately up the RAM to at least a Gig... That is going to be the most important resource and it is so cheap!
Remember -- you might be expecting 10,000 -- so plan on 10x that... It is better to grow into a box then to outgrow it instantly. | |

| hi SasiSan, thanks for the input.
btw, how about the CPU size? i'm quite sure this is okay already!?
thanks.. | |

| A gig of ram would be nice. Hell I keep 768 in my development servers. I would think that the processors would be enough. If you need to upgrade though think about using a clustered solution. 2 machines is better than one. Also have you considered Adapter teaming? I use Server Class Intel Pro + Adapters in my SQL boxes, and I team 3 adapters together off 3 porst to work in unison. This helps to distribute the Load of incomming requests in the Que.
Take care | |
