CIW IS THE WAVE OF THE FUTURE

| I remember someone in here a few months ago who doubted the validity and the usefulness of the CIW certifications. To be completely honest, I originally intended to go MCSE when I was first introduced to this industry. However, as fate would have it, I was convinced to take the CIW track, and I am certain I made the right decision. For those of you who haven't heard, Intel has announced a joint venture with CIW in June. "CIW encompasses the key internet competencies that we were looking for, and is the de facto standard in validated skill sets around internet technologies", said Mark Wilson, Intel Education worldwide marketing manager. Furthermore, the article states how there is a need for 1.6 MILLION new IT workers this year, and how more than HALF of those jobs will go unfulfilled because of a dearth of skilled Internet personnel.
The bottom line is, the CIW certifications we are receiving now are of priceless value in today's IT workforce. Good luck to everyone!!! | |

| Yes it may be the wave of the future but, in the future I will be retired and employers most likely don't have any idea what this certification involves now. I chose the comptia track with the exception of A+ has not done a D*** thing for me yet since I wrote a passing score on the I-NET+ and NET+ in June. If I had to start again I would have taken the Microsoft track since I have heard of more successful career stories then any other certification and then taken these other certs. Sure there is a long list of contracts I could have excepted but, it's long term work history and recognizable certs employers are willing to hire on permanent. Don't put too much worth into these other new certs just yet because, you most likely will turn up dissapointed.
