Author CIW certification steps

I have my path all planned out for the 3 exams to get the Master CIW Designer. I'm not sure of perhaps the most important thing though... what is this "5-day training" for each certification? Is this something optional offered by Prosoft training centers? Couldn't I get some study material for each (foundations, site designer, e-commerce) exam at a book store and sit for the exams? Aren't they typical timed exams? Thanks for the clarification.

Yes you can study on your own and take the tests if you desire. My suggestion is to take classes if you can. I took the classes that was offered at New Horizons Computer Learning Center and the information they provide you with is excellent study guides for the tests.

Good Luck!!

Rand,

Listen man, I'm not going to offence you. My situation is that I don't have that kind of time and money to spend in classroom. So, would you please tell us where can we find the study materials other than going to class or can we buy courseware for self study?

Thanks for your advice.

If you're willing to sell your New Horizons material, please let me know. I took a few Flash classes there and talked to them about the CIW courses, but they are a bit too steep in price to even bring up to my manager (since it's more of a personal goal). So please let me know if you or anyone you know of is willing to part with those New Horizons CIW material. BTW, which track did you choose? I plan on doing the Master CIW Designer for now. Thanks.

rh71...

Here is another option you can investigate for getting started on your CIW path...
i-Net+ Certification - It is a cert. sponsored by CompTIA, the org. who also developed the A+ Cert. and the Network+ Cert. When you pass the exam for i-Net+, you are not only i-Net+ Certified, you are also given credit for the CIW-Foundations exam. You can then proceed on to CIW-Site Designer, etc.

One reason I mention i-Net+ is that, unlike the CIW courses, there are plenty of study guides available at retail for preparation for the i-Net+ exam. See the i-Net+ forum here at ExamNotes.net and also CompTIA's site at... http://www.comptia.org/certification/inetplus/index.htm

My next certification goal is CIW-Site Designer.

Good luck,
Ermo Man (A+, Network+, i-Net+)
