Author It pays to CIW

Let me just throw in my 2 cents here. I first had an interest in IT certification about 7 months ago. I went through the classes, eventually obtained my M CIW D, and then aggressively began soliciting my services. Last week, I was offered a position with one of the best corporations in the world. I begin on Nov. 13 and can't wait to get started.
Granted, my degree is in business, but if you combine web-related skills with a keen business sense, you'll make very good money. Anyways, good luck to you all and may you successfully attain your certifications.

Cloudbreak, M CIW D and really stoked

Congratulations to you!

By now my job is a webmaster for the city. I've got my MCSE+I recently and would like to get the M CIW. Don't know whether go for M CIW D or M CIW A. Could you give me some advise! Thanks.

Could really use your advice on how to "aggressively" sell myself after I earn M CIW D....I also have an MBA and JD. What exactly is your new position? BTW...congrats!!

Gareth,
It depends on exactly what you want to do. A Master CIW Admin. is in dire need everywhere, but by the same token, there is such a shortage of webmasters that your skills would be a major asset to many companies. My advice would be to determine if you would rather be a network or LAN Admin OR learn the latest site design applications (Dreamweaver 3, NetObjects Fusion 4.0 etc). This should help guide you.

ThisChick,
What I did was put my resume on Monster, CareerBuilder, HeadHunter, and other career oriented sites. More specifically, I determined which company I wanted to work for and created contacts from within. My official title is Web Progamming Analyst (which includes myriad responsibilities.)

Cloudbreak: more questions:

Did you do home study or classes? Which materials did you use, and where can you get them?

Thanks in advance.

ThisChick:
I took classes at New Horizons. Depending on what city you live in, there is an excellent chance that there is an IT specialty school close to you. They will provide you with the most recent material. I would strongly advise against home study simply because you won't be able to establish contacts and you won't have the advantage of hands-on applications of programming, simulation, potential troubleshooting etc. More importantly, however, you would lose out on a terrific opportunity to work closely with your instructor, who by all means has quite a degree of clout in specific circles. That's my opinion; take it for what it's worth
