| I passed! Got an 840 this time. This exam was very focused on indexes (when to use clustered vs. nonclustered). You also need to understand when to use a stored procedure vs. a view, and a stored procedure vs. a cursor. There were a lot of questions in which more than one answer would do the job, but most of them specified within the question the specific requirements that made one question a better answer than another (for example: you need to insert information into the database AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE... no mention of data integrity). So know your T-SQL, understand view usage and the security options/restrictions that go along with them, know when to use your various tools I.E. triggers, constraints, stored procedures, cursors, defaults (primary and foreign keys)and be sure to read and focus on each question instead of picking the first one that seems to work and moving on. I had a couple of questions on XML, but none of them concerned the modes (auto, raw, explicit, etc..) they were mostly usage on how to insert or extract XML data to and from the DB (know FOR XML and OPENXML). Be sure to understand the relationships between keys (table a references table or vice versa) and know the correct sequence for actions like transactions. Most questions were multiple choice, there were a couple of select and place. No drop down or link this to that questions (like some of the MCSE tests have). Alright guys, that should give you enough guidelines to follow... I don't want to give away too much.
