| I have read several references to BOL as a study resource. What is BOL? I took a guess at Books Online, but when I went to www.booksonline.com (just a guess) I didn't see much of interest, the usual books for sale and none for SQL exams. Can someone please enlighten?
Thanks! | |

| Oh, okay, thanks. Use it all the time on the job. It just didn't ring a bell when I saw BOL. | |

| I plan on taking 70-221 next wednesday may 15th. And I'm planning for the 70-228 May 29th. I got all my books together and transcenders. I can handle the migraines. I want to settle MCSE already to rest my mind for a good 3 or 4 months. | |

| I wonder if I understand correctly.
During SqL 2000 Server installation process, if you select "customize", then you got an option to select install "Book Online".
If you did select install "Book Online", then you can open it by:
Start|Program|Microsoft SQL Server 2000| then click on "Book Online".
Or you can click on "Help" from the menu bar in "Enterprise Manager", or "Query Analyzer" to get whole menu.
|
|
|
| Coco, that is correct, a default install will get it too. Enterprise Manager Toolbar just gives you MMC help, but in SQL Query Analyzer Help does pull up BOL.
There is also a shortcut key, that when in Query Analyzer, you can position the cursor over a SQL command and it will pull up BOL help for that command. I just forget what the key is at the moment.....need that gingko-scotch drink.

But if you have to ask, I wonder why you're studying for this exam.

Well zappa, if you botherd to read this entire thread I wonder why you posted an answer since it is clear from the thread that I use Books On Line all the time, I just was not used to seeing it refered to as BOL. As far as why I am taking the exam, it is for the certification to go along with my 2+ years of SQL Admin experience. In fact, I would guess that 99.9% of the people taking the exam are doing it for the same reason, they want the cert! |
