I am studying for 70-029 at the moment. I have heard about 'Transcenders'which I believe is some form of study aid. Can anyone tell me what this is, and how I can get hold of it in England?

1) If it's all the same to you, I'd suggest going for 70-229 instead since it covers a more recent version of the software. Check out http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/exams/70-229.asp for more info.

2) Transcenders are a 'test simulator' software. The transcenders contains the type of questions and scoring you'll encounter on the actual test. Note that transcender is a company that creates such 'test simulators'; there are more companies. Search for "test prep software" or visit http://microsoft.measureup.com/ or check out the other links to "practice exams" towards the left of your screen.

Personally, I think that these tests are OK for showing the types of question you'll see and so makes it easy to gauge what Microsoft thinks is important with regards to the exam. The bad thing though is that they only contain so many questions, so it won't take long until you memorize the questions and don't think about the answers.

Don't rely on them as your _only_ study material, or you'll never acquire the skills you want. And don't think that they're essential for passing the exams. But, they're not half bad if you use them wisely.

Send me a private mail if you want to know more.

I passed 70-029 in mid-December, but I would recommend going for the SQL 2000 equivalent instead. The SQL 7 exams will be retired at some point, and with the amount of effort you will have to invest, you will want to maximize the length of time the results are good for.

FYI I found the Transcender exams for 70-029 to be instrumental in my passing it on the first attempt (a lot of people fail one or more times). You can buy them over the Web, and electronic delivery is available (which I have found to be perfectly adequate).
