If this is pertaining to the elective track of MCSE. I believe nothing is better than the MS books themselves with the training CD

Hey cross... I know you in 210 and 215 forums. I wish to take the track of MCDBA and MCAD.

Any particular books?

I started from 228 and am using Joyjit Mukherjee's book. I will take the test the day after tomorrow.

I will let you know the quality of the book then. Not sure I can pass it or not...

Good Luck for us

I think the "Dummies" books make a good read. The MS books are great, but quite sominating. I think that Dummies read first, followed by MS is the best way to go. The best way is to actually screw around with the software and learn it. I read Dummies, Exam Cram, MS book (half of it), and the SQl 2000 Operations Guide. Transcender was a warmup, but nothing close t othe caliber of questions you'll actually see. I downloaded the SQl operations guide free from MS's web-site, on the SQl page. All of that and I got an 800, good luck.

I liked this book I found "SQL Server Database Development from Scratch" it's a great hands on that takes you through development, gets you used to SQL and TSQL statements, and produces an end result on the web. It walks you through on a 98 machine with a lot of hands on.

Then take up the MSPre** stuff and learn how everything interacts for administration. Then start going through developer stuff. Always start with the foundations... If you start in the mix, you won't know why to use a SPROC instead of a View.

Just a thought.
I also like the O'Reilley on Access, goes through normalization quite thoroughly. (Which you need... QUITE THOROUGHLY)

Cheers!
