Well DMITRI,
the 70-029 exams are all about T-SQL statements, because thats what the whole Query Analyser does.

However for the exam, I guess you need to know Developing a Logical Data Model and Deriving the Physical Design, as strong as you know Indexing!!! Do not neglect them.

Mahyar, i too feared the exam like anything, but after i used a couple of books, i felt cool.

I used the Microsoft Book "Using SQL Server 7.0" and also a Published Study Guide for the exams. There were quite some questions about designing the tables, and ofcourse alot about indexing!

Nivas37:

You sound like I did trumping that indexing horn -- but man was that key to this exam!!!

Good luck on 028 this week. Let us know how you do!

You did trump the right horn....
luckily, i listened to what you had to say!

Sassy, any good sites to check out for the 70-028? I am too kinda caught up with things since i'm also preparing for the JCP (Java Certified Programmer)....

I used my MOC, the Exam Prep book and Transcenders. This was a tough exam so I would definately use a practice exam. Most of the sites out there are fair!

that is a great score, dude!

thanks for the pointers on exam topics (to all of you) - do you think someone with some background in relational databases (Sybase, Oracle, InterBase) and coursework, but no direct experience with SQL Server, could pass this exam?

29 -- yes
28 -- no way

You really need to get the program and just play with it. You will struggle with some of the plans and other 'microsoft' items that are on the exam. The cool thing is that with your background you are not learning concepts -- just how to apply what you already know to a new program.

Good Luck!

thats the best way to put it, Sasi...

u just have to use what you already know! Concepts are the keywords!

Thanks, dudes. Those were my feelings. I'll cram on the indexing etc. and give 29 a shot. At least I could add "MCP" to the few letters I now have . . . and keep working for more.
